NEW DUNKIRK EBOOK TIES IN WITH 80TH ANNIVERSARY

NEW DUNKIRK EBOOK TIES IN WITH 80TH ANNIVERSARY

At just before 7pm on May 26th 1940 Prime Minister Winston Churchill authorised ‘Operation Dynamo’ to commence. By the time the operation came to an end on the night of June 4th, a total of 338,226 Belgian, French and British soldiers had been rescued by a hastily assembled fleet of over 800 boats.

Getting the men back required the courage of the Royal Navy sailors who took the majority of the outer harbour wall while under constant serial bombardment. But, it was the role played by the fleet of small vessels, the ‘little ships’, crewed by civilians, plucking men off the beaches as they waited in water up to their necks that overnight became part of the national folklore.

This evocative ebook, written by acclaimed military film director Bruce Vigar, is being released to mark the 80th anniversary of the great escape. ” Even today as we face a national pandemic, the country’s leaders invoke the ‘Dunkirk Spirit’ to pull people through in difficult times. ”

Those Cupid Stunts at G2 re-release Kenny Everett’s autobiography

Kenny Everett’s hilarious autobiography, The Custard Stops at Hatfield is being re-released by G2 (in partnership with Lennard Associates) as a Retro Classic to tie-in with the 25th anniversary of his death at the age of 50 in April 1995. The £12.99 paperback takes you back on the journey of his life and career flavoured throughout with his wacky humour and personality.

Superstar deejays Chris Evans and Steve Wright have all cited Kenny as a huge influence – even the Goons’ creator Spike Milligan called him a genius. Kenny’s madcap style has become a blueprint for modern day radio shows with music, jingles, jokes and sound effects all part of the mix. He seamlessly moved into television in the 1970s where characters such as Cupid Stunt and Sid Snot became national treasures.

” Love Kenny Everett! How exciting! ” … Georgina Pursch, General Manager, PBShop
